Caring for a Community

In this interactive program, learners visit the virtual community of Springfield, a small rural town, to assess the health needs of its residents. There they explore all aspects of community oriented primary care: from needs assessment to intervention and final evaluation. A hidden tracking system helps faculty monitor learner progress.

For each project, learners will select an age group and research their needs. They will visit sites in the virtual community to conduct mock interviews and gather information. Then they will select intervention activities and evaluate the project's success.

After finishing a project, they can focus on a different age group with another set of health needs.

Upon completion of this program, learners will be better prepared to care for their community. This program will be particularly helpful for those who plan to practice in community health centers and assist underserved populations.

We hope you enjoy your stay in our virtual town of Springfield!
